Patna: Public Relations Department (PRD) secretary Rajesh Bhushan, on the closing day of the week-long exhibition of paintings by Manoj Kumar Bachchan at the Patna Art College on Wednesday, praised the artist for having the courage to have a solo exhibition when such events were becoming rarer by the day. "There is a steady decline of such events because of the dying breed of artists in the lack of adequate moral or financial support. The fact that Mr. Bachchan was able to pull this off entirely on his own is impressive and highly commendable," Bhushan said. Visitors were immediately impressed by the vivid colors used by the artist in his paintings that also provided a glimpse of the painter's imaginative and creative mind that could come up with images like the ones on display. Bhushan, in his address, emphasized the need for encouraging artists by providing them a platform like the Nehru Park in New Delhi where not only they could exhibit their masterpieces but also use them effectively to market their products. The artist himself lamented the steady decline of art in today's world that promotes materialism over art and culture.
